Kerek is most known for its Crusaders castle. It strategic position overlooked the lucrative trade route and Mecca pilgrims of the Kink's Highway, and was near Jerusalem and Dead Sea. Rebuild over many invasions and earthquakes it changed hands from Crusaders to Saladin to Mameluks.
